Last Friday, the Upper Quad was crowded with extension cords, 10 tents, sleeping bags, 20 tiki torches, and just about over 100 FH residents. Sounds like a camping trip gone wrong? Think again! Friday night was the first event hosted by the Fisher Hassenfeld House Council-The FH Sleepout. As early as 10:00pm, some residents came down to the Quad to set up their tents and claim prime real estate, AKA good seating for the movie as the flames of the tiki torches illuminated the upper quad.
By 10:30pm, everyone settled down into the grass to watch Bridesmaids, the movie that won the most votes via a survey sent out to the entire college house. Even though there were some technical issues, the laughter that resonated after certain jokes combined with the verbal reactions of surprise or shock during specific scenes throughout the movie was a clear indication that Bridesmaids was a great choice of movie! For those of you who have never seen Bridesmaids, do yourself a favor and watch it! You’ll easily see why it defeated both The Hangover and Ironman in the polls. With what seemed like an unlimited supply of freshly popped popcorn and sweet lemonade, two hours and five minutes flew by quickly! And then, as if things couldn’t get any better, the House Council provided hot chocolate and cookies towards the end of the movie. What a perfect bedtime snack!
House Council worked extremely hard to plan this event; advertising, logistics, location, and time all had to be taken care of. But it can easily be said that all the hard work paid off. The turnout was amazing, and various FH residents have been expressing their approval of the event. Expect many more amazing events from your House Council. They are here to serve you.
